Funeral services for Alice Marie Hammond Kilgore, 87, of Wisner, LA, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at River of Life Church in Winnsboro, with Rev. David Phillips, Rev. Clay Russell, and Rev. Randolph Chappell officiating; with interment following in South Central Cemetery, Wisner, LA; visitation will be at River of Life Church Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm; all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home - Winnsboro.
Alice, an Office Manager for several business's, was born to the union of the late William C. Hammond and the late Helen May Holyfield Hammond in Rayville, LA, May 26, 1936, and went to her heavenly reward June 18, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.
In high school Alice loved the game of basketball; she was held in high regard by her coaches and peers for her ability to play the game. After high school her love of basketball landed her a spot on the All-American Red Heads, she traveled the United States playing ball and it was some of the best times of her life. She loved the Lord, Ms. Womack's bible study group, and her COA friends. She had a love for serving and taking care of the elderly which, she pursued after leaving the business world.
Alice is preceded in death by her son Kenneth Chappell; her husband George Kilgore; the father of her children, Howard B Chappell; her parents; brothers: Ambrose Hammond, A. J. Hammond, Henry Hammond, and William Hammond, and her sisters Leila May and Georgia B Williamson.
Alice is survived by her children: Cindy Roberts (Gary), Randolph Chappell (Felicia), Byron Chappell (Sharon), Donald Chappell (Judy) and Kevin Chappell (Sheri); sister Cora Lee Silowsky; seventeen (17) grandchildren; twenty-seven (27) great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special friend/sister Fran Bradley; beloved canine champion Bella Marie; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Donald Chappell II, J. R. Roberts, Jonathan Chappell, Will Chappell, Trevor Roberts, and Gavin Dempsey.
Honorary pallbearers are Austin Chappell, Billy Beach, Bonner Wiggins, Raymond Beard, Graylon Hughes, Bubba Smith, and James Markey.
