Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice McVay, 82 of Newellton, LA will be 2 PM Friday, December 1, 2023, at First Baptist Newellton with Rev. Don Thornton officiating, interment to follow in Legion Memorial Cemetery Newellton, LA, visitation will be from 1 pm until service time Friday at the church, all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA

Mrs. Alice was born October 13, 1941, in Florida to the union of the late Robert Clayton and the late Esther Clarice Armstrong Williams and passed into the eternal presence of her heavenly home November 29, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Paul Jerome Williams.

Alice was raised in Newellton, LA, a place that her father (Bob Williams) called "Lick Skillet". She graduated from Newellton H.S. and then met her husband, Milford McVay, they were married 61 years on November 24, 2023. And made their home in St. Joseph where they raised their two children, Angie McVay Thomas, and Malcom McVay. She loved children and she started a 4-year-old pre-k for the community in St. Joseph. In 1989, she began helping at Tensas Academy in the pre-school along with the drill team. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her "Gram". She loved her family, loved to cook, swim, and work in her flowers. She was very spunky and outgoing. Alice and Milford attended St. Joseph Baptist Church, after moving back to Newellton 11 years ago they attended First Baptist Church Newellton. One of her favorite songs was "Because He Lives" and "Beulah Land" as well as reading Psalms 23.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Milford McVay of Newellton, LA; daughter Angela" Angie" McVay Thomas and her husband Rickie of Goodman, MS, and her son James Malcolm McVay of Newellton, LA; a brother Darrell Delon Williams of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, Allison Avery Thomas, Jaimee McVay Bower, and Mallory Michelle McVay; great grandchildren Abigail Bower, Waylon Bower, and Liliana Bower.

To the best Mom and Gram around,

You will be greatly missed. I know we will meet again one day with our Lord and Savior. Until then we will keep the memories, we have in our hearts forever.

We Love you, Milford, Angie, Malcolm, and grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Adams, Wynn Blanche,Harold Cupit, George Cooper, Greg McVay, and Archie Stewart.
