Alton Murray

Alton Keith Murray, born March 5, 1966, in Delhi, Louisiana, to William Milton and Doris Williams Murray, left this world on May 25, 2026, at his home in Liddieville.

Alton was baptized at Bayou Macon Baptist Church in Gilbert, Louisiana, on October 19, 1980, a milestone that remained meaningful to him. He spent much of his life as a pipeline surveyor, a job that carried him across countless miles and into countless adventures. Every road he traveled became a memory, and every memory became a story—told with the kind of humor and detail that made listeners lean in, laugh out loud, or shake their heads in disbelief. And if you weren’t listening, well… he’d tell you anyway.

A collector by nature, Alton found joy in the unusual and the unexpected. He was even known to order dirt from the internet just so he could pan for gold at home—an endeavor that delighted him whether he struck it rich or not. His curiosity was endless, and his enthusiasm was contagious.

What defined Alton most was his heart. He took in strays of every kind—animals who needed shelter or people who needed a place to land.

He will be deeply missed by many, especially his friends from across the street at the A & N Mini Market in Liddieville, where he was always good for a story, a laugh, or a security guard.

Alton is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Virginia Williams Murray, and his big brother, Milton Randall “Our Randy” Murray.

He is survived by his father, Milton Murray (Wanda); his children: Kayla Temple, Amber Temple, Augustus Murray, Sara Scott (Stephen), Lacey Murray, Woodrow Murray-Wood, and Lindsey Shipman (Kameron); numerous grandchildren who brought him joy; his siblings: Renee Monroe (Dennis), Amy Linder (Jerry), and Kevin Murray; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, past coworkers, classmates, and the many people he met along the winding, adventurous path of his life.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 PM, followed by a 3:00 PM service at Dennard Funeral Home in Winnsboro, with Jeffrey Robinson officiating.
