Funeral services for Anne V. Holcomb of Gilbert, LA will be 10:00am Tuesday, July 9 th , 2024 at First Methodist Church in Winnsboro, La. with Pastor Fran Guy officiating. Interment will follow at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert, La. under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Monday, July 8 th at First Methodist Church.
Anne was born May 23rd 1950 in Melbourne, Australia to the union of the late Sietse & Aafke Van Zwol and passed from this life on July 5, 2024 at the age of 74 at her home in Gilbert, La.
Anne grew up in Melbourne, Australia and immigrated to the U.S. after marrying her husband Sammy Lee Holcomb while he was working in Australia. She was a devout wife and the best mother/grandmother any child could hope for. She was also an accomplished educator.
Other than her family, the thing she loved the most were the students she taught throughout her career. Teaching was truly her passion and she loved every student she ever taught. She had a love for the water that she passed down to her children and grandchild. When she was not teaching, she spent her time socializing with friends and family or traveling the world with her children, sister, and cousin. She was a member of Gilbert Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Sammy Leigh Holcomb Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lee Anne Camile Holcomb of Lafayette, La; Sidney Ryan Holcomb of Liddieville, La. Grandson Cass Samuel Holcomb of Liddieville, La; Siblings Nicki Ricardo and Peter Van Zwol of Australia and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins in the U.S., Australia, and Holland.
