Obituary

A homegoing service for Annette Dailey Kincaid, 93, of Fort Necessity will be 2 pm Thursday December 11, 2025, at Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church with Dr. Bobby Ensminger officiating. Interment will follow in Dailey-Matthews Cemetery, Extension, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12- 2 pm Thursday at the church.

Annette was born in Fort Necessity on January 23, 1932, and grew up in the Boeuf Prairie community of Extension. She attended Fort Necessity High School, and was very involved with 4-H; she won awards for her dairy cows, and was chosen Franklin Parish 4-H Queen her senior year. She graduated as valedictorian in 1950, the first class to attend for 12 grades. In 1953, she graduated from Northwestern State College with a BA in Library Science and a minor in English education. One week after college graduation, she married her high school sweetheart; for about 5 years they lived in Baton Rouge, before returning to Fort Necessity.

She taught in classrooms from grades 7 through 12 and presided over libraries in most of the schools throughout Franklin Parish, retiring from Ogden High School in 1988. After a 3 month "rest," she went to work at the Franklin Parish Library; the library was always her "happy place." She would enjoy her job there until she was past 80 years young!

She served on the board of the Franklin Parish Council on Aging and was an active volunteer with The Good Samaritans. She was a lifelong member of the Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church, where her ancestors were among some of the original founding families.

She loved reading mysteries, playing cards and board games, working all kinds of puzzles, and traveling with her friends. She was devoted to her 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; she never forgot a birthday or anniversary.

Annette passed away December 8, 2025, at Legacy Nursing Center. Those waiting to welcome her home were her husband of 49 years, J. F. Kincaid, and her parents, Neil B. and Eula Ross Dailey. Left to remember the good times are her children: Marcia Williamson (Daniel), Carla Massey (Robert), Greg Kincaid (Patricia), and Alisa Hale (Jeffery); grandchildren: Jeff, Scott, Rebecca, Jason, Ross, Katie, Amanda, and Jonathan; and 15 great grandchildren.

She requested that grandsons serve as pallbearers.

The family asks that you consider a memorial gift to The Franklin Parish Library.
