Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Jones, 89 of Winnsboro, LA will be 2PM, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. David Shirley officiating. Interment to follow in Turkey Creek Cemetery Jigger, LA, visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday May 20, 2025, at Temple Baptist Church all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA.

Betty Jean Guillot Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. She was born on May 7, 1936, in Gilbert, Louisiana, to Napoleon and LaVada Guillot.

A proud graduate of Fort Necessity High School, Betty met and married the love of her life, James Louis Jones, who preceded her in death on March 20, 2009. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.

Betty was a woman of many talents and deep passions. In her younger years, she worked at Scott Corbett Drug Store, where she wrapped gifts and made malts. Over the years, she held a variety of roles including teacher's aide, cotton classer for the USDA, and mud logger in the oilfield—each one a testament to her strong work ethic and adaptability. She eventually retired, but never stopped pouring herself into the people and passions she loved.

She was an avid gardener and reader who also enjoyed crocheting, painting, playing Pokeno and any kind of card game, and visiting with friends. Her home was always open—there was always someone stopping by for a cup of coffee and a warm conversation.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of Temple Baptist Church, Betty was active in all aspects of church life. She faithfully taught Sunday School and was present for worship and fellowship as often as she could be.

Betty's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a constant presence at their school and sporting events, always ready with cookies, special meals, or a warm place to stay. She passed on to her children and grandchildren not only her love but also her wisdom, faith, life skills, and quiet strength. She offered guidance with grace and never forced her opinion—unless, of course, you asked for it.

The greatest gift she gave her family is the knowledge that there is no doubt where she will spend eternity. Her unwavering faith and relationship with the Lord left a lasting legacy of peace, hope, and assurance.

She was a good woman—kind, steady, and full of grace. She lived a life that honored God and uplifted those around her.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Louis Jones, her parents Napoleon and LaVada Guillot, and her brothers Harvey, Denon, Vernon, Earl, and Mearle Guillot.

She is survived by her son Mike Jones and his wife Kathy of Jigger; daughters LeiAnn Jones of West Monroe and Janet Moore and her husband James of Fort Necessity; her brother Bueford Guillot and his wife Carolyn, also of Fort Necessity; her cherished grandchildren: Heath Work, Benjamin Work, Linzie Jones Posey, Anthony Work, Jennifer Jones, Jessica Moore Simmons, Jacob Moore, Camille Berly Bledsoe, and Chad Berly; and great-grandchildren: Hadrian Work, Olivia Simmons, Freya Bledsoe, Amelia Bledsoe, Silas Bledsoe, and soon-to-be Juliet Simmons. Aunt Bette is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, and by her heart-adopted son, Glenn Acklen.

In addition, she is lovingly remembered by her dear friends in the TIC (Together in Christ) group—Sharon Shirley, Nell Young, Jo Humphries, Barbara Tatum, and Linda Ryder—as well as her very loyal friend, Nelda Morris.

Pallbearers will be Heath Work, Ben Work, Anthony Work, Jake Moore, Ethon Simmons, and Glenn Acklen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Betty's memory.

Betty's life was a testament to faith, love, and quiet resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
