Funeral services for Billie S. Hodgkins, 96, of Winnsboro, LA, will be 2 PM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Winnsboro, with Rev. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment will follow in Kilbourne Cemetery, Kilbourne, LA, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1 PM until time of service at the church.
Billie was born July 2, 1929, in Kilbourne to the union of the late William Sanders and the late Jewel M. Wicker and passed from this life to her heavenly home on January 31, 2026, in Bossier City, LA.
Billie was valedictorian of Kilbourne High School and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Winnsboro where she served in a variety of positions including long time Sunday school teacher of the Senior Women's Class; she was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Early in her career she taught Home Economics at Wisner High School, worked as a Home Demonstration Agent for the Cooperative Extension Service and later as a Home Economist for Louisiana Power and Light. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband, they also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Blake E. Sanders; and her son-in-law, Paul Wiggins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 76 plus years, Victor S. Hodgkins of Winnsboro, LA; her three children: Vicki Hodgkins Wiggins of New Boston, TX, William Hodgkins and wife Debbie of Zachary, LA, and Paula Hodgkins Self and husband Parker of Bossier City, LA; eight grandchildren: Joshua Wiggins (Rendi), Jarrod Wiggins (Claudia), Adrianne Hodgkins Dykes (Donnie), Katie Hodgkins Barron (Michael), Emma Hodgkins, Will Self (Hannah), Luke Self and Abby Self; 15 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Wiggins, Jarrod Wiggins, Donnie Dykes, Michael Barron, Will Self, Luke Self, Sanders Wiggins, and Warner Barron.
Any planned memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Winnsboro, or to the charity of your choice.
