Memorial Services for Mr. Billy Wayne Cobb will be 12 noon Friday, March 22, 2024, with visitation being from 10 am until 12 noon Friday before service at Life Church Winnsboro, LA
Billy was born November 23, 1946 in Winnsboro, LA to the union of the late Curtis Cobb and the late Dollie Dean Cobb. He passed away on March 18, 2024 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas surrounded by his family.
Billy was a lifelong resident of Winnsboro. He was a 1964 graduate of Winnsboro High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam. Billy worked for several years in the local automotive industry. He served on the Winnsboro Town Council for many years prior to being elected as the first full-time Mayor of the Town of Winnsboro in 1986. Billy served his town with pride in this role for 12 years. During that time, he was very active in the Louisiana Municipal Association, and proudly served as the president of that organization. He worked overseas as a contractor for Halliburton after his tenure with the town. Upon retirement, Billy began focusing on training, running, and breeding Labrador Retrievers. This was a renewed passion, along with his lifelong love of waterfowl hunting. He loved his country, his town, his family and friends. Billys greeting to everyone was, "Have I told you I love you today" He loved and was loved by so many people, and he continued to express this in his final hours.
