Funeral services for Billy Ray Cureington, 87, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Wisner, Louisiana. The service will be led by Bro. Tommy Basco and Reverend Fran Guy. Interment will follow at South Central Cemetery in Wisner, Louisiana under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, February 7, at First Baptist Church in Wisner, Louisiana.

Billy was born at home in Chase, Louisiana on March 2, 1937, to the union of Willie and Roberta Garsee Cureington and passed from this life on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Guest House Nursing and Rehabilitation in West Monroe, Louisiana surrounded by his children. He was currently a member of New Zion Baptist Church of Winnsboro, Louisiana and previously a longtime member of South Central Baptist Church of Wisner, Louisiana.

Billy held many jobs during his lifetime with Law Enforcement being his greatest passion. His career in Law Enforcement began as a deputy for the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department under Sheriff Eugene Parker from 1973 until 1981. After a brief stint in the oil field in Hobbs, New Mexico, Billy returned to Louisiana where he worked for Waste Management in Monroe until his retirement in 1996. After retiring from Waste Management, Billy and his beloved wife, Bobbye Gail, returned to Wisner where he became an officer for the Wisner Police Department. He was appointed interim police chief in 2000 after the death of Chief Ronnie Jennings. Subsequently, Billy would go on to be elected to 3 consecutive terms as Wisner Police Chief. Chief Cureington, affectionately referred to as "Pops" by many of the town residents enjoyed serving and helping the people of Wisner. Upon retiring as Chief of Police in 2014, he continued his service to Franklin Parish as a deputy under Sheriff Kevin Cobb until his death.

While serving Franklin Parish for over five decades, Billy received numerous awards and honors during the span of his law enforcement career, his proudest achievement was serving as President of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police in 2012-2013.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Roberta Garsee Cureington, his wife of 54 years, Bobbye Gail McManus Cureington, brothers Roy Cureington and Clarence Rollen.

He is survived by his current wife, Eloise Donnell Cureington, of Winnsboro, Louisiana; four daughters, Theresa Milner and Breard Milner of Broussard, Louisiana; Cynthia Roberson and Doug Roberson of Wisner, Louisiana; Connie Cureington and Bill Breland of Monroe, Louisiana; Myra Taylor and Joey Westerburg of Winnsboro, Louisiana; a sister, Helen Crum and Larry Crum of Winnsboro, Louisiana and a brother Ronald (Ronnie) Rollen and Jean Rollen of West Monroe, Louisiana and a bonus daughter Judy McKee Work. 8 Grandchildren: Eric Lewis and Kristy Lewis; Krystle Dupuy and Banyon Dupuy; Melissa McCoy and Jake McCoy; Emily Schmidt and Steven Schmidt; Arie Milner; Bre Milner; Lauren Ditto and Joseph Ditto; Kelsey Meza and Joel Meza and 12 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Those honoring Billy as pallbearers will be Brian Linder, Brandon Box, Todd Roberts, Vincent Smith, Leighton Linder and Michael Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department and the Wisner Police Department.
