Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Albritton Fenn of Winnsboro, LA, will be at 1:00 PM, Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Mark Fenn and Dr. Alan Miller. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mrs. Fenn was born October 12, 1939, in Winnsboro, LA, to the union of Sidney Durham Albritton and Margie Nichols Albritton. She passed from her earthly life to her Heavenly home on December 27, 2023, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Mrs. Fenn was a career educator of 45 years. She taught for 27.5 years at Morgan City High School, then retired from her public school teaching career after 3 years at Wisner High School. She served as Principal at Franklin Academy in Winnsboro for 11 years until her retirement. After 9 years she came out of retirement to complete the year teaching 4th grade for her granddaughter Blair and continued teaching for another 3 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Margie Albritton, and her beloved sister, Aline Eley.
She served the Lord faithfully throughout her life, including many years teaching 5-year-olds at First Baptist Church of Morgan City, where she met her husband in 1959. She also served yearly in Vacation Bible School, including as VBS Director.
Mrs. Fenn was a treasure to her family, exhibiting kindness, grace, and generosity to all. She loved sports, cheering for her children and grandchildren as they played, and husband Bobby as he coached. She was an enthusiastic fan of LSU athletics, as well as her Alma Mater ULM Warhawks. She was a cheerleader for the NLU Indians during her college years. As a distinguished woman educator, she especially enjoyed her involvement with The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for 52 years.
Survivors include her husband of almost 62 years, Bobby Fenn; her children, Mark Fenn and wife, Ann, Scott Fenn and wife, Anita, and Stacey Fenn Grieme and husband, Patrick; 8 grandchildren, Brooke Fenn Blount (Caleb), Caleb Fenn (Anna), Britt Grieme (fiance Kailyn Kitto), Mason Fenn, Blair Grieme, Riley Causey, Emma Walls, and Schaeffer Walls; 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.
Pallbearers are Todd Guimbellot, David Guimbellot, John Guimbellot, Caleb Fenn, Britt Grieme, and Mason Fenn.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Winnsboro, LA.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Compassus, Hospice TLC, Plantation Manor, and Dr. Jeffrey Combetta for the compassionate care that was given during Mrs. Fenn's illness.
