Services for Mr. Charles Clifton Hammett, 89, Rayville, LA will be 11 AM Monday, February 8, 2021 in Eastside Baptist Church-Rayville, LA internment to follow in Northeast LA Veterans Cemetery Rayville, LA. Visitation will be 10 AM until service time Monday at the church, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro, LA.
Clifton was born July 22, 1931 in Kilbourne, LA to the union of the late Eddy F. Hammett, Sr. and Evie L. Sasser Hammett. He passed away February 4, 2021 in Winnsboro, LA. A member of Eastside Baptist Church in Rayville and a U. S. Army Korean War Veteran, Cliff married his loving wife, Audrey Lee Clark in 1952. After living and working in several different locations, they moved to Richland Parish in 1965 and raised their family. Clifton was the last remaining of nine children of Eddy and Eva Hammett.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Audrey Lee Clark Hammett of Rayville; two daughters, Charline Hammett Odom and husband Roger of Rayville and Charlotte Hammett Whatley and husband Tony of Lake Providence; son Charles C. Hammett, Jr. and wife Connie of Rayville; grandchildren, William Roberts, Regina Mekus, Jessica Hukill (Bruce), Monica Martin (Chris), Cassie Pulliam (Chet), Megan Chappell (Andy), Chloe Jones (Josh), Tyler Whatley (Megan), Greg Odom (Carol), Jennifer Cupp (Alan) and Heather Corder; 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Andy Chappell, Lane Chappell, Matthew Hixon, Austin Hughes, Christopher Hughes, Josh Jones, Ryder Jones, Greg Odom and William Roberts.
Honorary Pallbearers, Clay Colvin, Tommy Nicholson and Paul Slayter.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rayville Salvation Cross Fund, 1211 Louisa St. Rayville, LA 71269.
