Funeral Services for Denise Gay Rainwater, 72, of Wisner, will be held Saturday December 28, 2024, at 2pm at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, LA. Interment will be at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy, La. Visitation will be held at 12pm until the time of service.

Gay was born September 22, 1952, in Baton Rouge, to the union of the late Gloria May Daspit Jones and the late Horace Lynn Jones, and passed to her heavenly reward December 24, 2024, at Mary Anna Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wisner.

Gay is preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother Beatrice Daspit. She is survived by her children: son Scott Rainwater (Cerece) of Arizona, daughter Lauryn Steele (Jeffery) of Prairieville, and son Stephen Rainwater (Becky) of Winnsboro; grandchildren: Landon Rainwater, Monique Garcia, Jasmin Rainwater, Taylor Rainwater, Reed Steele, Kaydence Rainwater, and Christian Rainwater; sister Sandra Treme (Butch), brothers Hardy Jones (Jill), and Lynn Jones (Beverly).

Gay retired from the Calcasieu Parish School System after 25 years, teaching at both Dequincy High School and Starks High School. Ms. Gay was a faithful member of Bethany Worship in Crowville, La, she loved gospel music and to watch her sermons on TV as well as Fox News, loved quilting Writing, reading as well as her coffee with lots of creamer.
