Funeral services for Dorothy Irene "Dot-Dot" Simms, 87 of Wisner will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 23, 2019 in South Central Baptist Church in Wisner with Rev. Keith Dowden and Rev. P.J Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the church.
She was born to Lawrence and Mildred Chapman Whittington on April 20, 1932 in Wisner and passed from this life Monday, May 20, 2019 in St. Frances Medical Center in Monroe.
Mrs. Simms was a member of South Central Baptist Church. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She worked as a beautician, patient activity coordinator, dietary manager for Sothern Oaks Nursing Homeand choir leader at South Central Baptist Church since 1968.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Whittington and Mildred Flowers,husband of 48 years James W, Simms, infant daughter Judy Lynn, sister Snooks Davis and step-mother Belle Whittington.
Mrs. Simms is survived by three sons Butch Simms and wife Jane, Larry Simms and wife Linda and Eugene Simms all of Wisner; grandchildren Junior Simms and wife Lynn of Archibald, Ashley Simms of Wisner; great grandchildren Tristan Simms, Bryson Simms, Raven Dawn Wallace, John Quibodeaux, Jr., Kimberley Quibodeaux and Caroline Quibodeaux; great-great granddaughter Gracelyn "Monkey" Simms, "special nephew" John Nick Simms; brother Harvey Stephenson of Winnsboro; sister Glenda Skelton and husband Leo of Magnolia, AR; sisters-in-law Eloise Hughes and husband Gerald of Harrisonburg, Annette Simms of Walker and Joy Flowers of Gilbert; very special friend Dot Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, her church family and many friends.
