Funeral services for Elmer Lee Nielsen, Sr., 78 of Cabot, AR formally of Vicksburg, MS will be 3 PM Sunday Sept 14, 2025, at Dennard Funeral Home Chapel Winnsboro, LA with Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating, interment to follow in New Winnsboro, Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time Sunday at the funeral home, all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home

Elmer was born September 18, 1946, at Rogers Clinic, Winnsboro, LA along with his twin sister Ellen Lou Armstrong.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lawrence "Curtis" Nielsen, Sr. and Francis Nielsen, 4 sisters, Elaine Brent, Maxine Uzzle, Vivian Sturdivant, Ellen Armstrong, and 2 brothers, Lawrence Curtis "LC" Nielsen, Jr. and Shelton Nielsen. He is the last of his immediate family.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Roberta Nielsen, his two children, Theresa Nielsen, Elmer L. Nielsen, Jr. (Rej), four Grandchildren, Lauren Tank (Doug), Noah Nielsen (Cydney), Chase Nielsen (Meredith), Sean Banquirigan, and two great grandchildren, Sawyer Nielsen, DaisyRhae Nielsen, and his fur baby Buster.

Elmer travelled the world as a master mechanic for Letourneau. When Letourneau operations closed, he drove a truck and then retired after 20 years from the Warren County Road Department.

He was a Christian and a member of Briarwood Baptist Church, Cabot, AR. Prior to moving from Vicksburg, MS to be near his children, he was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed his church family and was always counted on to bring an amazing dish for church functions.

Elmer was a Master Mason of 50 years and was a dual member of Hyland Jarmon Lodge #113, Vicksburg, MS and Cabot Lodge #319, Cabot, AR.

His love language was cooking and serving his family and friends. Everyone knew that if he was cooking, it was going to be delicious! If you stopped by to see him, he was going to feed you, give you a recipe and cooking instructions.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or charity of choice.
