Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsa Rae Hawthorne Peoples will be 11 AM Monday May 19, 2025, at First United Pentecostal Church Winnsboro, LA with Rev. Mark Powell officiating, with interment to follow in Coax Cemetery Baskin. Visitation will be 10 AM until service time Monday at the church all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA

Elsa was born on August 28, 1933, to the union of the late Rev. J.A. Hawthorne and the late Mary Weatherly Hawthorne. She received her reward and went to be with her Lord, May 15, 2025, she was a residence of Franklin Parish and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Elsa was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Lamar Goodman, a son, Joel Goodman, Daughter Cheryl Goodman, second husband Ray Peoples, stepdaughter, Glinda Jones, two Stepsons, Harold Peoples and Darral, sisters, Carrie Guthrie, Geneva Robbins, Alma Lea Peoples, and Lela Faye Hawthorne, a brother Pete Hawthorne, two stepdaughters-in-laws Vicki Peoples and Melanie Peoples.

She is survived by a brother Rev. Floyd Hawthorne and his wife Barbara of Winnsboro, LA; stepdaughters, Karon Rollins and her husband Jerry, Beverly Wright and husband Dalton both of Winnsboro; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hawthorne, Cade Powell, Kason Rollins, Loren Rollins, Morgan Rollins, and Conner Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Martin, Ricky Nichols, Mike Smart, Bob Temple, and Donnie Wright.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers Dee Sager, Kathy Rowane and Jana Rodriguez.
