Funeral Services for Elzie Lawson Woods Jr., 83, from Baskin, LA, will be at 2PM, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Friendship Baptist Church, with Bro. Elzie Johnson, Bro Brian Rogers, and Bro Prentis Gandy officiating.Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 5PM to 8PM at the church under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home.

Elzie was born November 18, 1941, to the union of the late Elzie Woods Sr. and Caroline Brownell Woods and passed away peacefully February 28, 2025, at Legacy Nursing Home in Winnsboro, LA.

Elzie was a church member of Friendship Baptist Church for many years. He was a retired horticulturist and a graduate of Baskin High School. He was an avid LSU Tigers fan, as well as a New Orleans Saints fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, astep- mother, Audrey Pearl Woods, a sister, Thelma Woods Zeagler, two brothers, James H Buddy Woods and Bobby L. Woods, and a stepsister Margie Jackson.

Mr. Woods is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Oneida Ford, a son, Bretton Woods, a daughter Amy Alvarado (Rob), three granddaughters, Shannon, Amelia, and Carolina, two sisters in laws, Helen Woods and Omega Grant, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Ford, Alex Smart, Brent Smart, and John Woods. Honorary Pallbearer will be Joel Olivo.
