It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emmett Earl Richardson, who went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2025, at the age of 92. Emmett was born in Crowville, Louisiana on January 28, 1933, to Charlie Richardson and Lois King Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Alice Rickerson and Janice Morgan.

Emmett is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Frances Hooper Richardson, his son Sam Richardson and wife Stephanie, his daughter Amy Richardson, and his twin sister Linda Lou Lively. Also survived by two grandchildren, Hannah Stark and husband Caleb, Nathan Richardson and wife Katie, and four great-grandsons Jack, James, and John Richardson, and Vance Stark.

Emmett graduated from Crowville High School in 1951 and then from Louisiana Business College in 1952. This led him to lead a life of service in the United States Navy for four years. He spent 23 years working at Franklin State Bank, from which he retired as Executive Vice President. He was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Winnsboro and served in many ways. Emmett spoke of how thankful he was for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a Mason for 60 years and active in the Winnsboro Lion's Club.

He loved his three sisters, Alice, Janice, and Linda, but had a special bond with Linda, his twin. To family and friends, he and Linda were referred to as Brother and Sister, and even to this day nieces and nephews refer to them as Uncle Brother and Aunt Sister. Many times he told the story of how he always wanted his own bicycle but since there were three girls and he was the only boy, all they ever had was a girl's bike, and his sisters said he tore that one up.

He taught his children a lot about life and balanced it with saving for the future and enjoying the present - all within reason. He taught how he was thankful to Jesus for taking on his sins and giving him eternal life, and he is enjoying that today - celebrating Christmas with Jesus this year! He taught that giving tithes and offerings to the church and other ministries was important - it was all God's money anyway.

A true handyman, Emmett was known for his ability to fix anything and was always eager to help family and friends. He built most of the pier at the camp at Lake Bruin and the loft above the living room there. He built the apartment over the garage in Winnsboro.

He cherished his family and was deeply thankful for the love and support they share. He wasn't very playful, except when he was with grandchildren Hannah and Nathan, and he would do anything they wanted him to. He was generous with his time and resources to many others also.

He loved Lake Bruin and having the kids, grandkids, and friends over. He didn't cook much, but he would fry fish and grill burgers there. He liked taking the family and the card-playing ladies on the "3 hour tour" in the boat.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dennard First National Funeral Home Saturday December 27 with visitation beginning at 1PM until time of service at 3PM. Fran Guy, who has ministered so faithfully to the family over the years, will officiate the service. Grandson Nathan Richardson will assist. Burial will take place in New Winnsboro Cemetery. Emmett left a legacy of love, kindness, and provision for his family. His generosity will be cherished by all who knew him and those he leaves behind.

Pallbearers will be Don Gauthreaux, John Stapp, Mike Lord, Scott Sartin, James Wells, and David Randall.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men's Bible Class.
