Errol Patric "Pat" Guyton

Errol Patric "Pat" Guyton, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. Born on December 20, 1939, Pat grew up on a farm, where he learned the values of hard work and resourcefulness early in life. He went on to spend his life in service to his country, his craft, and his local community. On August 1, 1962, Pat wed Barbara, sharing 64 years of marriage together.

A proud veteran, Pat served in the United States Navy for 20 years, from 1957 to 1977, achieving the distinguished rank of Chief Petty Officer. During the Vietnam War, he served aboard the USS Alamo (LSD-33), and his military career took him to duty stations in Hawaii, California, Florida, Texas, and Virginia. It was during his naval service that he discovered a lifelong passion for electronics and communication, serving as a skilled ham radio operator. Pat proudly carried this passion into his civilian life and retirement, spending countless hours connecting with fellow operators worldwide under his call sign, KF5ER. He also spent time working as a volunteer deputy sheriff in both Franklin Parish and Galveston, Texas.

Following his distinguished military retirement, Pat returned home to Crowville, Louisiana. He utilized his sharp technical talents for many years as the Mechanic Foreman at the Winnsboro Equipment John Deere store, where he was respected for his mechanical expertise.

In his later years, Pat transitioned his focus to public service. He was elected and served two honorable terms as the Justice of the Peace for District 1 in Franklin Parish. Pat was also a member of the Freemasons.

Pat is survived by his wife, Barbara Guyton; his five children, daughters Lenora Perry, Patricia Bonaventure, Kim Guyton, and Tori Guillot, and his son, Jon Guyton; his brother, David Guyton; and his sister, Gayle Camarda. His legacy also lives on through his 11 living grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edley Guyton; his mother, Beatrice Guyton; his brothers, Michel Guyton and Pete Guyton; and his granddaughter, Christina Adams.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Dennard First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Burial will follow afterward on the same day at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located in Rayville, Louisiana.
