It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Eva Elaine Biggs Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, who departed this world and entered her heavenly home on October 2, 2024, at the age of 73. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, and unshakable faith that will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Elaine was born on April 25, 1951, and married the love of her life, Ronnie, with whom she shared 56 beautiful years. Together, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and unconditional love, creating memories that will be treasured by their family for generations. Whether traveling the world or exploring the beauty of everyday moments, Elaine and Ronnie shared their greatest adventures hand-in-hand, side-by-side.

While raising their three children, Elaine pursued her passion for education with unwavering determination. She graduated with a bachelors degree while balancing the challenges of motherhood and later went on to earn a masters degree, an additional 30 graduate hours, and a specialist degreeall while working full-time as a dedicated teacher. Her commitment to education and her students left an indelible mark on many lives. After decades of service, she retired from teaching in the Franklin Parish School District, but her influence on young minds and hearts endured.

Perhaps her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored and proudly spoke of to everyone she met. Their accomplishments brought her endless pride, and she was their biggest cheerleader, offering wisdom, guidance, and love that will forever remain in their hearts.

A breast cancer survivor, Elaine was known for her elegance and warmth. She had a timeless love for pearls, often wearing them as a reflection of the beauty she carried inside and out. Her legacy is one of compassion, strength, and faitha life lived with purpose, love, and grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Georgie Biggs; her sister, Virgie Faye; her brother, Jimmie Biggs; and her nephews, Dewayne Biggs and Jeffery Newsom.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronnie, and their three daughters: Candy Smith and her husband, Timothy Tucker; Amy and her husband, Kevin Harper; and Kara and her husband, Steven Austin. She is also survived by her sister, Tommie, and her husband, Randy Newsom, and her sister-in-law, Gwen Biggs. She was a proud grandmother to Indya and her husband, Hunter Pruitt; Noah and Kade Harper; Joshua and his wife, Raylee Wyant; Kaleb Wyant; and Eva-Catherine and Georgia Austin. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Peyton and Josephine Pruitt, and Stevie Jo Wyant. Her beloved dog, Willa Pearl, was also a cherished part of her family. Each of them will carry forward her memory, honoring the values she instilled. Though she is no longer with us, her love, laughter, and faith will forever shine in our hearts.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Crowville, where she was a longtime, devoted member. Family and friends will gather to remember the extraordinary woman she was, with visitation from 1:00PM3:00PM and her funeral service at 3:00 PM, all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Pruitt, Noah Harper, Kade Harper, Steven Austin, Brandon Carroll, and Gene Newsom. Honorary pallbearers are Roy McDuffie, Don Franklin, and Wayne Henderson.
