Funeral services for Herbert Pete McCaa, 75, of Winnsboro, LA, will be 10 am Saturday November 7, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Cemetery under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Friday November 6, 2026, at the church.
Pete was born October 17, 1951, to the late Neal Herman McCaa and the late Mittie Lou McDougle McCaa and passed from this life on November 3, 2026, at his residence with his wife by his side.
Pete was a kind and caring man. He loved his family, his friends, and his church. He was faithful to his Lord and his country; he served his country by serving in the United States Army. Pete was a thinker, always coming up with some type of program or project that would help people at church or in the area close by. His work on the Veteran’s Day Program was one of his favorites. He persuaded some of the members of New Hope Baptist Church to help with a project where meals were cooked at the church, packed in to go plates, and delivered to many shut-ins; this group came to be known as “The Meal Makers at New Hope”. Pete also persuaded the ladies of the church to compile a cookbook with all their favorite recipes. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Gloria Jean Cummins, Neal Herman McCaa, Jr., Sue McLemore, and Stanford Wesley McCaa.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vicky Sue Pierce McCaa of Winnsboro; two sisters: Doris Kemp of Winnsboro and Martha Smith and her husband Terry of Alexandria; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wilton Halterman, Jason Magee, Buddy Pearce, Buddy Strickland, Austin Temple, and Malcolm Welch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Kemp, Delmer Kirkham, and Bill Wester.
