Funeral services for Howard Lee Way, 78, of Winnsboro will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Temple Baptist Church, with Rev Jimmy Harper and Rev. Caleb Brown officiating, interment will follow at Coax Cemetery; visitation will be conducted from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Dennard First National Funeral Home; all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home - Winnsboro.Howard was born September 6, 1945, in Rodney, MS, to the union of the late John Paul Way, and the late Lillie Belle Trim Way, and passed to his heavenly reward Sunday, October 8, 2023, at his residence in Winnsboro, after a lengthy battle with cancer.Howard is preceded in death by his parents; brother Rev Donald Way; sister Janie Way White (Thomas); brother-in-law Charles Claybrook; father-in-law Jack N. Vines; mother-in-law Lois Madene Jones Vines; and brother-in-law Jack E. Vines.Howard is survived by his spouse Ruby Vines Way; daughter Kim Way Case (Robert); son Chad Way; granddaughter Brennan Perry (Justin); sisters: Ruth Way Claybrook and Paula Thomas; sisters-in-law Jennifer Way Moser and Joan Vines Hickman (Frank); and brother-in-law William Ralph Vines (Delores); one grandchild; and nearest and dearest to his heart all his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.Howard is a member of Temple Baptist Church - Winnsboro, which he loved greatly; he was a member of the Men's Executive Sunday School Class; he was in the Mississippi National Guard for seven (7) years; he was a tire builder for Pirelli Tire; he graduated from Port Gibson High School; he loved doing his yard work; he never met a stranger, loved children, and had a great sense of humor.Pallbearers are Clay Brown, Ronald Foley, Lance Fontenot, Brian Hickman, Neal Hickman, Vick Knighten, Justin Perry, Mike Temple, and Jacob Way.Honorary pallbearers are Frank Hickman, Ralph Vines, the Deacons of Temple Baptist Church, and the Men's Executive Sunday School Class.Any planned memorials may be made to NELA Cancer Foundation League (contact 318-435-1006), or St. Judes' in Memphis, TN.Online condolences may be made at www.dennardfirstnational.com .
