Funeral services for JW Fortenberry, 91, of Liddieville, will be 3 pm Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in the chapel of Dennard First National Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Williams and Lesley Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 - 3 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
JW was born February 14, 1932, in Winnsboro to the union of the late Tom Fortenberry and the late Jenny Polk Fortenberry and passed from this life on June 4, 2023, at his residence in Liddieville.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years Fannie Jean Holloway Fortenberry, who just passed on April 12; his grandson, William Bryant Fortenberry; six siblings: Robert Fortenberry, JT Fortenberry, Tommy D. Fortenberry, Irene Carraway, Myrtle Hilbun, and Lucille Ellerbe.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his four children: Joe Michael Fortenberry and wife Lorinda, Vickie Lynne Williams and husband Carl, Sandra Jean Anderson and husband Bill, and James David Fortenberry and wife Cheryl; like a son Wayne Boyd and wife Margaret; 15 grandchildren: Tyler Fortenberry, Chance McCall, Trey Williams, Crystal Ulmer, Jennie Hayes, Morgan Gallagher, Skye Reynolds, Jamie Fortenberry, Derek Fortenberry, Madison Fortenberry, Michael Wayne Boyd, Kim Dye, Keisha Bozeman, Hunter Boyd and Lesley Boyd; 25 great grandchildren and aunt, Evelyn Vick.
Pallbearers will be Joe Michael Fortenberry, David Fortenberry, Wayne Boyd, Bill Anderson, Carl Williams, Trey Williams, Derek Fortenberry, and Michael Wayne Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Fortenberry, Hunter Lee Boyd, Aiden Hayes, Case Ulmer, and Carl "Brother" Williams, IV.
