James Carroll Curtis
Winnsboro, Louisiana
January 12, 1963 - September 6, 2025
James Carroll Curtis, 62, of Winnsboro, Louisiana, passed away at his home on September 6, 2025. Born on January 12, 1963, James was a father, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dot C. and L.C. Curtis; his brother, Snooky Curtis; and sister-in-law, Jenny Curtis. He was also preceded by his maternal grandparents, Dovie and Joseph Cobb, and paternal grandparents, Jim and Omie Curtis.
James is survived by his children: John Wiggins, wife Darrah; son James Henry Dean Curtis and wife Kaylee; as well as his kinship daughter, Serenity Abbitt, whom he loved as his own with his entire heart. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Curtis (and his special friend, Cindy), of Winnsboro; his special nephew, Curt Curtis and wife April, also of Winnsboro; and his sister-in-law, Connie Hales of Rayville. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and grandchildren.
James was a slow-going, easy-to-get-along-with kind of man. If you met him once, you were sure to remember him. He was truly a friend to everyone - a man who never met a stranger. He had a deep love for motorcycles, a strong work ethic shaped by years in the oil field, and a passion for history and collecting old artifacts and knick-knacks. James had a unique ability to find beauty and value in things others might overlook - a trait that extended beyond his collections to the way he treated people.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of storytelling, and the way he made everyone feel like family.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks for the kind words, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Your love and memories of James mean more than words can express.
