Funeral services for James L. Lachney, 76, of Gilbert, LA will be 3 PM Saturday, at Calvary Baptist Church, Gilbert, LA with Rev. Bobby Ensminger and Rev. Kevin Bates officiating with interment to follow in Oakley Cemetery Gilbert, LA. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday at the Church, all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA.
Mr. James was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a very hardworking man, a farmer, he owned Lachney Flying Service, and also was owner of several cotton gins in Mississippi, owned a trucking company, and Yucatan Landing, he enjoyed helping others and never stopped working.
He was born November 19, 1946, in Winnsboro, to the late U. P. Lachney and the late Edith Nell Ward King and is survived by his wife Bobbie "Cookie" Thornhill Lachney of Gilbert, LA; two sons James Brian "Jimmy" Lachney and his wife Janice of Gilbert, LA, Stephen "Scott" Lachney and his wife Yat-Tat of Slidell, LA; daughter Amy Elizabeth Whitney and her husband Mark of Winnsboro, LA; eight grandchildren, James Christopher Lachney, Joseph Scott Lachney, Ashley Elizabeth Lachney, Faith Elizabeth Lachney, Grace Evangline Lachney, William James Lachney, Abigail Alyvia Whitney, Lanni Elizabeth Whitney and eight great grandchildren; two brothers Ernest Pierre "Perry" Lachney and his wife Juanita of Sicily Island, LA, and Wesley Eugene Lachney and his wife Alma "Petie" of Gilbert, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Calhoun, Danny Ezell, Johnnie Lewis Ezell, Tyler Ezell, James Christopher Lachney, Joseph Scott Lachney, Tim Jones and Timothy "Boo Boo" Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Boone, Ted Holder, Mike Lamb, Buddy Parks, and Tony Temple and Stevie Stephens.
