Memorial services for James "Buddy" Smith, 72, of Gilbert, LA, will be 2 pm Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the chapel of Dennard First National Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 1 pm until time of service at the funeral home.

Buddy was born July 31, 1953, in Winnsboro, LA, to the late James Paul Smith, Sr. and the late Dorothy Jean Hendry and passed from this life on March 19, 2026, at Riverbridge Specialty Hospital in Vidalia.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gwen Horne, and his brother, Jerry Wayne Smith.

Survivors include his daughter, Jaime Smith of Start, LA; his son, Jarrod Smith of San Antonio, TX; four brothers: Kenneth, Roger, Rodney, and Donald; four sisters: Debbie, Brenda, Glenda, and Kathy; four grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his fur baby, Prescilla; and a host of other relatives and friends.
