James Wilson "Jimmy" Stokely

Graveside services for James Wilson “Jimmy” Stokley, 82, of Gilbert will be held 10 am Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Jigger Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Hurby Hitt officiating under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home.

Jimmy was born May 26, 1944, in Brownsville, TN, to the union of the late Woodrow Wilson Stokely and the late Hazel Irene Cox Stokely and passed from this life on September 7, 2026, at his residence in Gilbert.

Jimmy was a member of Jigger Apostolic Church. He was retired the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers after many years; he enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Walter Stokely; and one sister, Mary Tippitt.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Linda Lou Stokely; three daughters: Tara Sprott, Shawn Castelle, and Jamie Bird; 11 grandchildren: Ellie Stokely, Joseph Sprott, Sunnie Bird, Marlie Bird, Ryan Hitt, Zac Hitt, Hunter Hitt, Lacy Davis-Hitt, Dillon Davis, LeaAnn Temple, and Adam Temple; numerous great grandchildren; two special nephews: Terral Stokely and Ral Stokely; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dillon Davis, Hunter Hitt, Ryan Hitt, and Zac Hitt.
