Obituary

Jimmy Lee Wallace Sr. (Poppy), 61, of Winnsboro, LA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born January 29, 1965, in Winnsboro, Jimmy married the love of his life Debbie on March 14, 1981. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a friend to many — a man whose laugh was easy, whose welcome was warm, and whose presence made any room brighter. To know Jimmy was to love him.

Jimmy is lovingly survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie; his children, Melany Cottingham (Michael) of Winnsboro, LA, and Jimmy Wallace Jr. (Jamie) of Lee's Summit, MO; his grandsons Caden Wallace, Eli Cottingham, Colston Wallace, Creed Wallace, and Walker Wallace; and his brothers and sisters Bubba Wallace (Mary), Danny Wallace (Sheila), Donny Wallace (Teri), Robert Wallace (Shelia), Florance Cardin, Sheryl Meredith (John), JoAn Southern (Bobby).  He was preceded in death by his grandson Ethan Cottingham, his parents Lester and Jo Wallace, and his grandparents Anna and Jack Wallace.

Jimmy's greatest joys were his family and his friends. He loved all sports — especially baseball — and could be found cheering the loudest at his grandsons' games, camera in hand and pride shining in his eyes. He treasured time spent with friends, sharing stories, laughter, and the kind of easy companionship that lasts a lifetime.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jimmy's kindness, humor, and generous spirit will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty that will carry on in the hearts of his family and friends.
