Funeral services for John R. Day, Sr., 84, of Winnsboro will be 2 PM Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Bayou Macon Baptist Church with Rev. Waylon Tibbs and Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12 noon until time of services.
Mr. John was born October 14, 1939 in St. Joseph to the union of the late Olin Day and the late Mamie Weaver Day and passed from this life on February 13, 2024, in Winnsboro.
Mr. John was a member of Bayou Macon Baptist Church; he retired from Louisiana Department of Transportation. He loved carpentry and spent his free time building and creating beautiful furniture. His biggest passion was raising his cattle and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Inez Day; parents; brother, Jim Day and an infant brother.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son and daughter-in-love, John "Bubba" Day, Jr. and Charity Purvis Day of Winnsboro; two granddaughters: Camryn Day and Madisyn Day; a host of other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Lance Bickham, Tyler Bickham, Pat Jackson, Brett McMurray, Gerald McMurray, and Ben Purvis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Babb, Decatur McMurray, and Ronald McMurray.
