Obituary

Funeral services for Jace Parker Rowan, 20, of Swampers will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Lone Pine Baptist Church with Rev. Mel Stephens and Rev. Ronny Crumpton officiating. Visitation will be at 11 A.M. until time of service at the Church, under direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home.
Jace surprised his parents, Joey and Jill Rowan, by making his grand entrance early at 28 weeks, full of life, on October 18, 2000, in Dallas, TX. He continued to surprise and challenge them right up to his passing on February 8, 2021, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans after donating the Gift of Life.
Jace was raised in Swampers, LA, where he was a lifelong member of Lone Pine Baptist Church. He attended FCCS where he enjoyed playing baseball and irritating his teachers. He loved and excelled in 4H shooting sports where he attained State and National recognition honing his skills to later become an expert Rifleman. Jace dreamed of becoming a Marine since he was 10 years old. He was so intent on pursing this dream, as soon as he turned 17, Jace chased his mother down in a movie theater with his recruiter for her signature to join early. After high school graduation, he shipped off to his "vacation" at Parris Island, SC. It was here he earned his Expert Rifleman badge (giving him a coveted call home) his EGA, and the honor of being called a United States Marine. He then went on to become a Motor Vehicle Operator.
Jace lived his life to the fullest, smiling, and laughing often, and always had a "Hey Buddy" or "Brother" to say.
The Pinnacle of his life was the birth of his son, River Lane Rowan. His joy in this life was being Daddy to Lola and River. Jace was a devoted brother and friend, many times literally giving the shirt off of his back.
He is preceded in death by: his beloved Papaw: Willard Roberts; beloved "Tica": Uncle Joseph Calderon; great-grandmother: Muriel Flowers.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his parents: Joey son: River; daughter: Lola; love and mother to his children: Whitney; brothers: Jeremy (Jillian), Jacob, Joseph; and his favorite "baby sis": Jodi; his #1 fan: "Non" Gloria Roberts; grandad: Cal Calderon (Tamara); grandmother: Jo Watkins (Doug); Grandfather: Randall Maness; uncles: Michael Calderon (Brandy) and Ronny Crumpton (Brittany); aunts: Winona Crumpton, Misty Guillot (Chris), Christy Chang (James); precious niece: Railey Rowan and numerous cousins. He was a friend to many.
If you would like to donate in his honor, Jace supported the following causes: 22 A Day, Tunnel to Towers, LOPA.org.
