Funeral services for Linda Hawthorne, 77, of Farmerville will be 3 pm Sunday December 28, 2025, at Winnsboro United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Jason Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Cemetery, Crowville under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 pm until time of service at the church.

Linda was many things in life. She was a daughter to two, sister to four by birth, seven more by marriage, friend to many, aunt to multitudes, wife to one, mother to two, grandmother to four, and great-grandmother to five, but she was one thing to all of us, deeply loved. She went home to Jesus at the age of 77 after a long, well-lived life. She loved God, and she loved her family with her whole heart; that was evident in every word she spoke and action she took.

Linda, born in Winnsboro, Louisiana, on September 3, 1948, was the fifth and youngest daughter of Oliver "Ollie" and Lola Belle Reeves. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her four sisters, and many brother and sister-in-laws. She is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Alvin Clinton Hawthorne Sr., of Farmerville, LA; her son and daughter-in-law Alvin and Melissa Hawthorne, of West Monroe, LA; her son Bradley Hawthorne, of Farmerville, LA; her four grandchildren and their spouses, Katie (Brian Harper), Tyler Hawthorne (Michelle) , Daniel Hawthorne (Clara), and Madeline (Nathan Mitchell); her five great-grandchildren Emerson, Eli, Meredith, Adam, and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. All of whom miss her already.

As a child, Linda loved spending time with her parents, her sisters, and especially her nieces. She loved going to school and church. She married Clint when she was 16 and they moved to Vicksburg. She became a mother to Alvin at 17 and seven years later had Brad. She always said that after growing up with all girls, she didn't know what to do with Alvin at first. Clint would often travel for work, so she would take Alvin and go stay with her mother or one of her sisters until he got back. She always said she missed her husband, but she loved getting extra time with her mother. After her boys went to school, she went to work at the grain elevator in Mound, Louisiana. She loved working and the people she worked with, and after her years there she was a whiz with a calculator.

She was a phenomenal mother, but her grandchildren could argue that she was made to be their Mawmaw. She was the best grandmother in the world, and she loved us deeply. She was an angel sent to earth, and while we are heartbroken she is not here with us anymore, we are grateful that Jesus let us have her for the time that we did.
