Funeral services for Ludie Marie "Love" McKenzie, 66, of Baskin LA will be 2 PM Thursday July 11, 2024, Dennard First National Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Perry officiating, with interment to follow in Coax Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Ludie a member of Coax Baptist Church and former State Farm Insurance agent, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Winnsboro, LA June 7, 1958, to the late Ollie and late Mary Bell Peavy, preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gerald Peavy, sister, Lois Townsend, a special friend Sandy Jackson, and sister-in-law Sherry Peavy.
Love is survived by her husband Ricky McKenzie of Baskin, LA; daughter Mendy Simons Wiltshire and her husband Charlie; "her boys" grandsons, Trip Wiltshire III, and Ollie "Chase" Wiltshire all of Baskin, LA; step daughter Courtney McKenzie, and granddaughters Hadley McKenzie and Hayden McKenzie all of Crowville, LA; brother Archie Peavy of Plaquemine, LA; two sisters Linda Peavy and Janice Higgins both of Baskin, LA; niece Dana Talbert of Baskin and several other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Carter, Mike Curtis, Rusty McKenzie, Wade Punchard, Shorty Shirley and Bo Taylor.
Honorary Pallbearers are Alex Coriaty, Kevin Fife, James Searcy, and Hollis Shirley.
The family would like to express a special thanks to LSU Ochsner's Oncology Unit, Dr. Carlisle, nurse Shalene Henderson, and caregivers CeCe Lawson and Angie Wilson.
