Funeral services for Mary Ann Day Sadler will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Newellton, LA, with Rev. Larry Foster officiating with a eulogy by her cousin Britt Keahey. Interment will follow the service at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, at Dennard First National Funeral Home, all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mary Ann was born in Newellton on March 1, 1964, to the union of the late Earl Edward 'Jack' Day and the late Mary Elizabeth Bennett Day and passed from this life at Plantation Manor Nursing and Rehab on December 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.Mary Ann was a friend to many and always had a warm smile and kind words. She was the youngest of three children and grew up in Newellton on her family's farm where she later built her current home with her husband, Tom. She graduated from Tensas Academy and then received her B.A. in elementary education from Northeast Louisiana University.Mary Ann retired from the Tensas Parish Public School System and continued her teaching career at Tensas Academy. She leaves behind countless adoring students and coworkers whom she loved. Her great nieces and great nephew loved having 'May May' at their school. Although she loved teaching, her most cherished jobs were being an amazing mother toJack and Beth Ann and adoring wife to Tom. She loved women's basketball and was ecstatic to witness Beth Ann win the state championship in her senior year of high school. She was a much-loved aunt who had a close bond with her niece, Elizabeth, and nephew, Bennett, and was best friends with her sister, Jacqueline, and brother, John. She will never be forgotten and always will be missed. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Paul Schauf, mother-in- law Delia Sadler as well as her first husband, Danny Hart. She is survived by her husband Tom Sadler of Newellton, daughter Beth Ann Hart and fianc Lee Mullins of Mangham, son Jack Hart of Gulfport, MS, stepson John Sadler of Las Vegas, NV, stepdaughter Courtney Douget and Phillip of Midland, TX, sister Jacqueline Schauf of St. Joseph; brother John Day and Beth of Newellton, step-grandchildren Sophie Douget and Max Douget, father in law Gerald Sadler, brother in law Mike Sadler, nieceElizabeth Matthews (George, Rainey and John Bennett), nephew Bennett Schauf (Natalie, Harper and Piper) as well as many cherished friends and family members.The pallbearers will be Coates Head, Bennett Schauf, Curt Leake, Heath Herring, Don McGehee and Lee Mullins.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tensas Academy in her memory.
