Obituary

Funeral services for Roger L. Odom, 78, of Rayville, LA will be 12 PM Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Mangham Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Aultman, Rev. Jeremy Butler, and Rev. Jeff Smart officiating.  Interment will follow at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Rayville, LA, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro, LA.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2026, also at the church.

Roger was born June 22, 1947, in Winnsboro, LA, to the union of the late R. L. Odom and the late Rubye Odom and passed from this life on March 21, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA.

Roger was a retired United States Army Veteran and a graduate of ULM where he earned his Master's Plus 30.  He also retired from the Richland Parish School Board where he served as a teacher, coach, and Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation; and a State of Louisiana CDL instructor.

A steadfast pillar of faith and a man of unshakeable conviction, Roger lived a life that mirrored the Gospel he so loved.  As a leader, he commanded respect not through volume, but through the quiet strength of his integrity. While his influence reached many, his most cherished titles were Husband, Papa, and Friend. Adored by his family, he was their greatest hero and their most patient prayer warrior.  He leaves behind a world made brighter by his devotion to the Lord, a family grounded in his example, and a legacy of faith that will ripple through generations.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. Max Odom, Sr.; brother-in-law, Rev. Jimmy Eppinette; nephews: Victor Odom, Dr. Max Odom, Jr., David Odom, Dr. James Eppinette; and great grandson Michael Alan Copes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Charline Hammett Odom; four children: Greg Odom and his wife Carol, Jennifer Cupp and her husband Alan, William Roberts, and Regina Mekus; sister, Jerry Eppinette; ten grandchildren: Dillon Odom and his wife Sidney, Bryan Cupp and his wife Laura, Zoe McKnight and her husband Austen, Lilly Cupp, Matthew Hixon and his fiancé Haven Wilhite, Liam Roberts, Sydney Reese Roberts, Atif Jammal, Tarik Jammal, and Riad Jammal and his wife Heather; seven great grandchildren: Lela Hill, John Holden Jammal, Brooks Jammal, Michael Reese Odom, Landon Odom, Yasmine Jammal, and Ellie Clair Odom; family by choice: Jeremy and Elizabeth Butler along with their children Caroline, Rhett and Abram; a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Larry Denman, Polk Brian, Bud Odom, Joe Kelly, Bill Bobo, Gary Odom, and Jerry Key.
