A Graveside Memorial Service for Shelia Kaye Tarver, 65, of Winnsboro, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at New Winnsboro Cemetery, 2015 LA Hwy 865, Winnsboro, with Rev. Fran Guy officiating, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home - Winnsboro.
Shelia went to her eternal home in glory on Wednesday, August 23, 2023; the long battle for her health was over.
Shelia was born November 21, 1957, in Winnsboro; she was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Tarver and Minnie Tomasia Bond Tarver, her maternal grandparents Allie Morris Bond and Benjamin T. Bond, and her paternal grandparents Ruby Hogan Tarver and Hollis W. Tarver.
Shelia is survived by her sister Gloria Bond Richards (late Fred Richards), her niece Alicia Richards Wells (Harrison), great nephew Aris Wells, and great niece Ella Wells.
Shelia was much loved by her aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of her family; she will be remembered for her sweet disposition.
Shelia graduated from ULM in 1980 and began a thirty-year career in the Franklin Parish School System teaching the younger grades, specializing in the reading lab. Shelia was active in the Cotton Country Chapter of the ABWA (American Businesswomen's Association) where she served in several offices such as President and Secretary. Shelia was unanimously named Woman of the Year in 1992. She participated in the Bowling League and enjoyed many fun trips with her team.
