Obituary

Funeral services for Shirley McMurry, 85, of Winnsboro will be 11 am Monday, December 11, 2023, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Winnsboro with Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Cemetery, Crowville, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 am until time of service at the church.Mrs. Shirley was born January 13, 1938, in Winnsboro to the union of the late Everett Ward and the late Myra Poland Ward and went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2023, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro after a lengthy illness.Mrs. Shirley was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. Mr. Donnie was the love of her life together they made many fond memories with their three boys fishing at Yucatan, camping, horse events, and a multitude of other activities. Throughout the years she enjoyed spending her time playing the piano, crocheting, and doing all types of crafts; she loved to oil paint and several of her paintings are left to be cherished by others. Mrs. Shirley loved Jesus and her family and with this being said she was a very present Grandma to her grandchildren and great grands; she loved spending time with them and seeing them smile, her family made her the happiest. She also answered Mamaw Shirley to many. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years, Donnie McMurry; and her three sisters: Dorothy Ward Earl, Bobbie Ward and Mary Alice Waggoner.Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons: Samuel Paul McMurry and wife Pam, Donald Kirk McMurry and wife Debby, and Bruce Edwin McMurry and wife Kim all of Winnsboro; one brother, Dennis Ward of Paola, KS; eight grandchildren: Heather Farmer, Samuel Paul McMurry II, Vandi McMurry, Davin McMurry and wife Mandy, Ben McMurry and wife April, Brandon McMurry and wife Carrie, Natalie McMurry Strickland and husband Michael Paul, Rachael Lively and husband Ben; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; canine baby, Abby; also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and many friends.Pallbearers include Samuel McMurry III, Davin McMurry, Ben McMurry, Brandon McMurry, Jaxon McMurry and Kent Nichols.Honorary pallbearers include Samuel Paul McMurry II, Dylan McMurry, Jace McMurry, Blaine Lambert, Ben Lively, Michael Paul Strickland, and Gary Gill.The family would like to extend a special thank you to special friend, Suzanne Bryan, Mangham Home Health, Franklin Medical Center, and special caregivers: Karen Williams, Lauren Bowlin, Lori Waggoner, Jessica Williams, Patti Phillips, Terri White, and Kathy Marshall.Online condolences may be made at www.dennardfirstnational.com .
