Shirley Ponder

Funeral service for Shirley Ponder, 83, of Winnsboro will be 2 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in the chapel of Dennard First National Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Dennard officiating. Interment will follow in Baskin Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 pm until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born December 14, 1942, in Port Neches, TX, to the late Francis Britton Durham and the late Mary Ethel Hatton and passed from this life in Shreveport, LA, on May 9, 2026.

Shirley was a former beautician; she enjoyed being retired because that gave her time to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing the piano, word searches, coloring, and playing the Wii with her great grandsons Aiden and Hunter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Arthur Ponder; one granddaughter, Alexis Diane Ponder; her sister, Marie Landry; two brothers: Everett and J. W. Durham.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Francis Ponder, Mary Sawyer and husband Stephen, Joseph Ponder, Rose Talbert and husband John, and Amy Graham and husband Dewayne; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Talbert, Chris Ponder, Britton Ponder, Mitchell Jordan, Trystian Castille, and Stephen Sawyer, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aiden Fletcher and Hunter Jordan.
