FORT WORTH - Thomas Marion "Sonny" Kimball Jr., 79, of Fort Worth, passed away on October 3, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel at 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107; with a visitation one hour prior to service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Sonny will be laid to rest next to family in Louisiana.

Sonny was born on November 23, 1944, to Thomas Marion Kimball Sr. and Bernice Kimball in Gilbert, Louisiana. After he graduated from Gilbert High School, Sonny joined the Air Force where he maintained the B-52 Stratofortress bomber. During this time, he married his sweetheart, Barbara, and was a devoted husband for over 57 years.

Following his time in the Air Force, Sonny served as the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Forrest Hill and later moved to the Fort Worth Police Department, where he received the Medal of Valor for heroism.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James; his sister, Merle; and his son, Thomas M. Kimball III.

He is survived by his sisters, Betty, Nell, Dorothy, and Diane; by his loving wife, Barbara Elaine Kimball; his son, Kerry Lynn Kimball and wife, Naomi; his son, Michael Scott Kimball and wife, Corye; his beloved niece, Deborah Calhoun and wife, Chanda; and his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
