Vicki Lynn Fussell Pepper
May 15, 1959 – May 30, 2025
Vicki Lynn Fussell Pepper, age 66, of Swampers, Louisiana was called home to be with our Lord on Friday, May 30, 2025. Visitation will be at Fish Bayou Baptist Church on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 5 PM – 8 PM. The final celebration of her life will be at Fish Bayou Baptist Church at 604 Hwy 610, Winnsboro, LA on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 1PM with burial to follow at Lone Star Cemetery in Sikes, LA. Bro. Danny Ezell and Wade Williams to officiate.
Vicki was born on May 15, 1959, in Winnsboro, LA to the union of Thomas "Hunk" Fussell and Betty Smith Fussell. As a child, Vicki spent most of her days with her grandparents, Oscar and Erseal Smith, learning about farming and taking care of livestock while often playing with their pet spider monkey, "Buck". From an early age, Vicki developed the love for music like many of her family members. Her parents and brother, Tommy, were supportive of her desire to learn piano and endured many hours of listening to her practice before mastering the skill of reading music and playing the piano where she later became the church pianist at Fish Bayou. On June 14, 1977, she married the love of her life, Kenneth "Kenny" Pepper. The year after they were wed, they suffered the loss of twin boys at birth, Christopher and Christian Pepper. Putting their dreams of building a family on hold temporarily, they purchased a small piece of farmland and began their journey of becoming farmers. While her husband worked out of town for the family construction company during the week, she farmed their land with the occasional help from Kenny's uncle, Aaron Hebert. When she wasn't farming, she was measuring crop land for the ASCS office and taking care of their two young daughters they were later blessed with, Bridgette and Lora. Vicki had a natural flare for business, so when her husband wanted to start a fiber optic splicing company called Glassweld, she dove in headfirst working beside him to make his new dream a reality. She was eventually recruited by her parents to help with the family business, Fussell Company Contractors, LLC. Vicki and her younger brother Tommy helped their father operate Fussell Company at Barksdale Air Force Base maintaining streets, roads, bridges, sidewalks and the runway. Upon their father's death in 2014, the two continued to work side-by-side, as not only siblings but as best friends, with their mother, Betty, to continue their father's vision of a successful construction company with the full-time help of their children, Adam Fussell and Bridgette Bordelon and occasional help from Lora Batchelor. In 2018, she began helping Susan Russell and the staff of Franklin State Bank with their annual Christmas Party for Children with Special Needs. This became her passion and always lifted her spirits, especially after losing the love of her life and a great portion of her heart on May 31, 2014, with the passing of her husband, Kenny. Vicki never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Her overall passion was speaking to others about God and leading them to know Him whether she was on a turn row covered in mud or dressed in formal attire at the Governors' Ball. She loved her family and friends and prayed for them daily. She always managed to show love to her daughters and grandchildren who knew her as "VicVic". The love and support her family felt from their VicVic can never be replaced.
Vicki is proceeded in death by her husband, Kenny Pepper; twin sons Christopher and Christian Pepper; father Thomas Fussell.
