Funeral services for Walter F. Morgan, Sr. 77, of Gilbert will be 10 am Monday January 27, 2025, at Harvest Christian Church with Rev. Kim Kimball and Rev. Dale Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at 12 noon in Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the church.

Walter was born April 23, 1947, in Winnsboro to the union of the late Willie Plez Morgan, Sr. and the late Katherine Compton Morgan and passed from this life on January 23, 2025, at St. Francis Extended Hospital in Monroe.

Walter served 20 years in the United States Army before retiring and was a truck driver for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Donnie Morgan and Willie P. Morgan, Jr.; one son, Randy Morgan; brother-in-law, Byron Stevens; aunt, Florine "Sis" Compton; and uncles: Allen Compton and his wife Peggy, Bill Compton, and Bud Compton.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 37 years Bonnie Morgan of Gilbert; one son, Walter Morgan, Jr. of Long County, GA; five daughters: Taneka Davis of Winnsboro, LaCoya Jones (Dee) of Monroe, Jerrica Morgan (James Clark) of Hebert, Alisha Morgan (Phillip Jones) of Winnsboro, KaBria Temple (Justin) of Winnsboro; two sisters, Linda Kimball (Kim) of Gilbert and Wilma Stevens of Winnsboro; 19 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Justin Temple, Gary Don Gillespie, Todd Ivy, Phillip Jones, Terry Shirley, and Dee Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Clark, Kenneth Crum, JimmyLee, Danny McKenzie, Donnie Wallace, and Jimmy Wallace.
