Funeral services for William Albert Wilks, 66, of Jonesville, will be held Friday, August 18 at 10 A.M. at First Pentecostal Church Wisner, under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home. Rev. Joey Paul and Rev. Peyton Sparks will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert. Visitation will be 5 - 8 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the church.On October 5, 1956, William was born in Wisner to the union of Henry Albert Wilks and Laura Kenney Wilks. He passed from this life on August 15, 2023, at Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria.William graduated from Gilbert High School and shortly joined his older brothers in their work in the oilfields of New Mexico. At a time when the oil industry was in a slump, he returned to Louisiana where he joined brothers, as well, who trained him in what it takes to be a good meat cutter. Will went onto manage several different meat markets in store located in this area. Willam was preceded in death by his parents and all six of his brothers: Henry Wilks, Harold 'Buddy' Wilks, Alvin Wilks, Rufus Wilks, Julian Wilks, and Jerry Wilks. Also preceding him in death were long time friends Stacy Sharp and Bubba Jones.Will is survived by his son, Joshua Lee Wilks, and granddaughter Everlee Grace. Survivors also include two sisters: Josie King and husband Wayne of Gilbert and Mary Stephens and husband Harold of Wisner. William will be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and friends from across several states.Pallbearers will be Henry Wilks, Bubba King, Randy Stockman, Shadrick Thacker, Tim Gordan, and Kirt Rutledge.
